A reason to pray...

I'm going to make this a quick post. It's an important one though. Do you need a reason to pray? Here's yet another reason to pray about events on a national level.

Muslim leaders have called 50,000 observant Muslims to come to the Capitol this Friday, September 25, for a day of Jummah (Friday congregational prayer). The sponsors promise that from 4AM to 7PM, "the Athan [the call given five times each day for Muslims to participate in mandatory prayer] will be chanted on Capitol Hill, echoing off of the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument and other great edifices that surround Capitol Hill." The goal of this event is that "the peace, beauty and solidarity of Islam will shine through America's capitol." In fact, their website for this unprecedented event proudly declares, "Our Time Has Come!"

Here's the web site with additional info....

one more reason to beseech the Lord,

and to trust Him as well.

Praying for our country, "land that I love..."

ps- you can pray for me as well... not nearly as important as the above request, but a bug and my eye had a little run in on my bike ride today. I'm not sure how the bug fared, but my eye isn't very happy right now. The boys suggested that I wear swim goggles when I ride tomorrow.... hmmmmm.

  1. I looked at that website a few days ago. Amazing...yes, we will be praying...I was reminded of the story of Elijah and the prophets of Baal in 1 Kings 18. Our God is greater! And there is a remnant that has not bowed their knee to Baal.
Yet, my heart is breaking when I listen to the news...my prayers and tears are with our country, the land that I love. May I continue to look farther to the land that I truly love, where my Savior waits.
    Keep hoping and trusting!
