T
here are most certainly things that I regret having spent my time on. Adding to my "thankfulness journal" isn't one of them.
It's a simple artist's sketch book, embellished with photos from cast off magazines. In it, I keep an ongoing list of the blessings noticed in my everyday life. Suddenly the mundane becomes a reason to rejoice and I begin to delight in searching for God's hand of blessing in my life.

187. Air conditioning on a very hot day.
188. Tom and Jake replaced the water pump in our pickup truck~ saved us at least $200
194. For injury, illness that draws me to the Lord.
195. Boys who will haul compost on a very hot day.
196. Abbie: " Jake, I saved a brownie for you." (Jake had been working for a neighbor out in the heat all day) *Love* seeing my children being thoughtful.
197. A 2 hour visit with a dear friend that felt like 15 minutes.
198. Tom, Jake, Gabe and Caleb ran their first 5K race together~ so grateful for healthy bodies and for a father who will invest in his sons this way.
199. Timmy's fabulous "bed head"

201. the myriad of birds that frequent our yard.

204. weedy gardens.

Oh SUSAN!!!! Welcome back!! I have SO missed these posts of yours...but you already know that! ;-)
ReplyDeleteYour photos are always gorgeous and inspiring...thank you for sharing them with us! How WONDERFUL to have a "zoom" lens to capture those lovely birds...so pretty. *Love* the bedhead Timmy sports...cute! I think your list is great! Such a blessing to read...THANK YOU!!
With Love,
Camille
Thanks for the "close up" of your notebook again. Just yesterday I got my book out to begin. there's no time like the present!
ReplyDeleteKathy
I love your pictures & your gratitude journal pages. Thank you for sharing in this Gratitude Community, an extra blessing from Him to us this day. Thank you :)
ReplyDeleteOh this is great....I think I'll have to change to a larger notebook for my "thankfulness" journal and start embellishing it with some nice photos too!! That's so creative and very sweet. Your photos are beautiful..and the one with the bird was fantastic...oh, the little boy with bedhead...too precious :) :)..What sort of camera do use? How many times can you zoom in on an object. My camera only has 3x zoom or is it 5x? can't remember..but anyway, this is a great idea. Have a great week. Love and hugs, Heather :)

~Camille, you are so sweet and encouraging, my friend. Thank you.
ReplyDelete~Kathy~ so excited that you are starting your thankfulness journal! I'd love to see a picture. Please post on your blog if you have time, ok?
~t, so nice of you to stop by and comment. Welcome! Nice to "meet" you here!
~Hi Heather! I have a Canon Rebel xsi. The "kit" lens that comes with the camera zooms a little (18-55mm). Tom purchased a fabulous zoom lens for me before my trip to Europe last spring (the trip was a gift from my parents!). That lens is a 55-250mm lens. Nice to see you here!
~Hi Jennifer! Thanks for the kind comments!
~Traci, thanks for stopping by!

Susan,
ReplyDeleteI've been reading through your website and love it. You are very inspiring. I'm not a scrapbooker, but your Thankfulness journal has peaked my creative side.
I definitely think I will start one of these. I notice with my busy life and schedule, sometimes I tend to focus on the problems and negative side of life. I think a journal will help me to re-focus on the right things in life.
I also have been thinking about starting a Triathlon journal. Just putting in a couple pictures along with my results and how I was feeling that day.
I'm glad we met in the Tri class this year. Thanks for your positive outlook on life.
