A February Blizzard

The sun is out here today after yesterday's blizzard!  Yes, we actually had a "real" blizzard here in Missouri!  This Little House on the Prairie fan was *so* excited to see a real-life blizzard.

The snow began at 6am and by 3pm this was our view:
It was quite a storm... between 3 and 5pm we received about 2" of snow/hour with 35+mph winds!
It was really exciting, but I must admit that I was a little disappointed as it definitely wasn't a "you can't see your hand in front of your face" type of storm!  I am guessing that it might have been a different story if we weren't living in a valley with lots of trees around to slow the wind. Nope, we didn't have to tie a clothesline from the house to the barn to take care of the animals last night.  sigh.
Of course, I wasn't the one going out to take care of the animals last night!   The boys might not have liked to have quite that much snow!  We did end up with close to 12" total.

Today we awoke to this loveliness!
It was only 4 degrees F this morning, so the birds spent a great deal of time at our bird feeders.  Every time a child went out the door, they made a hasty retreat to the nearest tree.  (the birds, that is!)
The cold didn't keep us in all day though!  We got out long enough to make some snow angels and snap some photos....

I've taken some photos of my Project Life album for 2011 and hope to have time to post them in the next few days~ I am really, really having fun with that project this year.

Hope you are staying warm in your neck of the woods!

But my children love to be out in it. Not yesterday though...too cold and icy~ brrr!

    Lovely photos~ Cinnamon

  3. I love beautiful snow pictures, all that white and sparkling snow just calls you to come play in it. Great photos of your fun. I took a picture like that of my dog in the snow last week and he looks just like yours only smaller he's only 5 months. It was so nice to visit again. Take care.

  4. Brrrr! We got ice and sleet and 8 degree weather here. I think it is warming up today to 22 degrees! Too bad you didn't get to try out the clothesline! :)

Thanks for the detailed pictures of your great photo album. Do you have a photo printer? I'm really trying to keep up with the pictures this year.

    Thanks for your warm friendship!
