Fabric love!

Look what arrived in my humble little mailbox last week!

This stack of fabric loveliness was given to me from Allison at Cluck Cluck Sew!  I was one of three people chosen in a drawing there for this beautiful stack of fabric!  It includes two 10" pieces of each fabric from the Robert Kaufman line called "Veranda" by Amanda Murphy.

I was *so* excited to receive so much beautiful fabric in the mail!  So excited!

I was doubly excited because I have *just* the project for all of this textile loveliness!

Have you seen this book? The Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt by Laurie Aaron Hird.

In 1922, The Farmer's Wife magazine posed this question to their readers: "If you had a daughter of marriageable age, would you, in light of your own experience, have her marry a farmer?" The magazine at that time had 750,000 subscribers, and received over 7,000 letters. The best answers to this question are included in this book, along with the traditional quilt blocks they inspired.

The girls and I were already intrigued by the many blocks inspired by this book and had discussed making our own Farmer's Wife quilt.  You can find a huge community of quilting inspiration here, at the Farmer's Wife Quilt Quilt-along.  The Flickr group can be found here~ so many pretty quilt blocks!

Now we have a fabulous batch of fabric to use for the quilt sampler!  Yay!  Thanks *so* much Allison!

I'll post our blocks here as we complete them!

ps~ Allison is expecting her third baby~ you might stop by her blog and congratulate her!
